JOB TITLE:                         

Occupational Therapist

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Works as part of a transdisciplinary team to determine eligibility of children for Early Start services.  Conducts screenings and evaluations of children and families.  Provides clinical input regarding the services and supports provided to children birth to age three who are eligible for Early Start services.  Helps monitor children’s progress and determine ongoing service needs through review of reports and direct observations.  Works with the vendor community and community partners to promote the development and ongoing delivery of quality therapy services to children in Early Start.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Possess a Master’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Knowledge of current practices in early childhood development.
  • Knowledge of Early Start regulations preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of five years working in field of study with children birth to five years old, preferably with children with developmental disabilities, developmental delays and/or those at risk of having a developmental disability.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Feeding experience preferred.
  • Experience working as part of a transdisciplinary team.
  • Experience in interagency collaboration.
  • Experience in training staff and other stakeholder groups.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid license or certification as applicable to field of study (e.g., physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy).
  • Valid California driver’s license or other means of transportation that will permit incumbent to discharge job duties effectively and efficiently.

PREFERRED BILINGUAL SKILLS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As part of an interdisciplinary team, participates in the development of IFSP goals and objectives to ensure that developmentally appropriate services and supports are in place for children in Early Start.
  • Assists in screening and assessment of children who are potentially eligible for Early Start services.
  • Conducts evaluations with children and families, prepares and presents assessment reports as needed and in accordance with field of study.
  • Participates with Service Coordinators in IFSPs, periodic review meetings, and Planning Team Meetings with Service Coordinators as needed.
  • Attends and provides clinical input in Early Start Resource Group and Intake Early Start Resource Group.
  • Helps monitor children’s progress through review of vendor reports and direct observations.
  • Provides education and training to RCOC staff, families and other stakeholders regarding early childhood development, Early Start services and other information specific to field of study.
  • Represents and/or presents expert testimony for the regional center in administrative hearings as needed.
  • Reviews and provides feedback regarding program designs for potential new Early Start vendors.
  • Assist with quality assurance efforts by observing the provisions of Early Start services provided by vendors in center and in family homes, and by coordinating and providing technical support regarding assessments, reports, staff training, and program development as appropriate.
  • Establishes and/or maintains positive working relationships with the Early Start vendor community and other community partners.

JOB TITLE:                         

BCBA – Behavior Specialist

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Serves as a quality assurance consultant for the agency’s specialty homes. Is part of a multidisciplinary group to provide clinical review and consultation regarding the living and day program supports for individuals served with significant and challenging behavioral needs Services as a liaison between the provider and agency to help define and refine supports and services to address the needs. Represents and/or presents expert testimony for the regional center in administrative hearings related to behavior services as needed.  Supports service coordinators as they secure quality services for the individuals served by RCOC. Serves as a resource for agency staff to identify program and service options for persons served who would benefit from ABA services, including individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Advises management staff on best practice guidelines for the provision and funding of ABA services and provides technical assistance to local clinicians and service providers specializing in ABA services for persons served by RCOC. Participation in the Behavior Modification Review Committee (BMRC), Behavior Services Review Group (BSRG), and Safety Net Resource Group (SNRG).

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

  1. EDUCATION:
    • Possess a master’s degree from an accredited university, college, or professional school.
  2. CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS:
    • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board required.

    • Clinical assessment and treatment experience recommended.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists the Health Resources Group in review of policies and procedures related to best practices guidelines regarding behavior intervention.
  2. As a member of the multi-disciplinary team, assists in determining developmental and behavioral needs of persons served within one’s scope of competence.
  3. Assists with the admission process and monitoring of persons served in the Stabilization Training Assistance Reintegration (STAR) program.
  4. Participate in the development and review of program plans for new housing facilities with a behavior milieu.
  5. Participate in ongoing monthly quality assurance responsibilities regarding specialty residential facilities, such as, Adult Residential Facility for Persons with Special Health Care Needs-with Behavior Component (ARFPSHN-B), Enhanced Behavior Support Homes (EBSH) and Community Crisis Homes (CCH).
  6. Corresponds with the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) in regards to monthly reports and semi-annual reviews of specialty homes conducted by DDS.
  7. Consults on the provision and funding of ABA services for Early Start and Behavioral Services Resource Groups, as needed.
  8. Participate in resource groups, resolution/review committees and community workgroups and task forces, as needed.
  9. Participate in Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP)/Individual Program Plan (IPP) and Planning Team Meetings (PTM), as needed.
  10. Assists in the continued development of best practice guidelines for the provision of ABA services to RCOC persons served.
  11. Provide training to RCOC staff, families, local clinicians and service providers regarding the provision of quality ABA services.
  12. Works with the agency’s quality assurance team and assists in providing guidance regarding technical assistance to service providers.
  13. Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art information on evidence-based treatments and interventions for individuals with ASD and other developmental and intellectual disabilities and ensure dissemination of this information to RCOC staff, local clinicians and service providers.
  14. Compile and analyze data to identify trends, program expectations and outcomes related to persons served receiving ABA services.
  15. Participate in the preparation and conduct of Fair Hearings, as needed.
  16. In accordance with RCOC policies, implement the highest standard of customer service in all activities. Act within the scope of authority in a manner consistent with agency guidelines, policies and practices.

Develops, coordinates and facilitates activities which result in an increased awareness of the services available and rendered to people with developmental disabilities by performing various functions, such as: case consultation, social assessments, resource development, treatment modalities, development of person-centered plans, individualized family service plans and coordinating family and persons served diagnosis and treatment techniques. Facilitates the education of persons served, families, and service providers regarding available services.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

    Master’s degree from an accredited school in Social Work, Human Services, Drug And Alcohol, Education, Counseling, Psychology, Criminal Justice or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in Human Behavioral Science, which would typically include degrees in:

JOB FUNCTIONS: 

CCFRC Service Coordinator is a full-time position, providing parent/individual support for families and adults receiving Early Start and Lanterman services at RCOC. The CCFRC Service Coordinator will assist the supervisor with data collections for grant projects as well as provide supervision and guidance to the Navigator staff. Additionally, this position will facilitate the education of families regarding available services and related topics. The CCFRC Service Coordinator will be able to translate written informational and presentation materials into their language of proficiency.
